EMI FERRITE CORE are used for noise suppression and the prevention of abnormal oscillation in the relatively low frequency range of tens of kHz to hundreds of MHz. EMI FERRITE CORE consists of NiZn and exhibits higher resistivity than MnZn ferrite core, making it a more suitable choice for frequencies above 1 MHz.

Why using emi ferrite core

1.No grounding needed

Many noise suppression components that use capacitors are ineffective without a stable ground. Ferrite cores can suppress noise without grounding.

When passing through a ferrite core, a cable generates magnetic fields. The magnetic fields concentrate inside the core because ferrite can attract magnetic flux (μ”). The concentrated magnetic energy is converted to heat and dissipated by the magnetic loss of the ferrite, preventing emission as noise. 

2. Suppress both normal-mode and common-mode noise

Normal-mode noise is when the signal current is generally low frequency, while the noise current is high frequency. To reduce such noise, noise suppression can be achieved by giving much greater resistance to the noise current than the signal current. When passing through a ferrite core, the noise current can be reduced because it has a high degree of resistance.

Common-mode noise is when currents have different directions and different phases. In some cases, the directions of the currents are reversed, and the noise affects both ways. In such cases, by passing the two cables through the ferrite core, the magnetic fluxes generated by the signal currents cancel each other out. The magnetic fluxes generated by the noise currents do not cancel each other out, therefore, they are reduced in response to the ferrite's resistance (magnetic resistance).
